The Taylor County School System believes that technology is an integral part of the learning process. This process does not stop at school but continues at home. In order to facilitate learning at home the Taylor County School System has provided resources for parents and students to use at home. Families will need access to a computer and to the internet. Some of the supports can be accessed over a cell phone that has access to the internet. When using these resources through a cell phone please be careful about your data usage so that you do not go over your data allotment and accrue additional fees.
There are many common resources that are used at each of the Taylor County Schools. Below is a list of some of the common items. All of the common items and school specific items can be accessed through the ClassLink LaunchPad.
Focus is our student grade book program. You can check your child’s progress at any time by going to https://focus.taylor.k12.fl.us/focus . This link can also be accessed from our district homepage at https://www.taylor.k12.fl.us. It is located under the More Information column. The link is Parent, Student, and Teacher Portal. You child’s username is his/her student ID number. The password is the birthdate with two digits for the month, two digits for the day, and two digits for the year (example: 00/00/00). Please contact your school if you need assistance accessing Focus.
ONCOURSE HOMEWORK PORTAL
OnCourse is our homework portal. You can sign any child up within the district to view all homework in one location. This can be found on our district website under the More Information Column. The link is OnCourse Homework Portal . You may access your child’s teacher website and homework calendar. In order to register, go to https://taylor.oncoursesystems.com. Click on “Sign Up”. Enter your email address and create a password. Click on “Register”.
STEP 1: You can add students by clicking on “Add Student” button on tool bar in the “My Favorites” section. Enter your child’s name and click “OK” button.
STEP 2: Add a Teachers Website by choosing a school in the “Staff and Calendars” section. Click the plus button next to the calendar or teacher you want to add. In the “Add Favorite” dialog, you can select the students associated with the teacher.
STEP 3: Viewing Homework– Use the Homework icon(s) in the “My Favorites” section to view homework posted by each teacher.
Kindergarten through Second Grade Web Based Programs
The Taylor County School District has paid for students to have access to some web based programs for reading, math and science. These items can be accessed through the ClassLink LaunchPad.
Lifeline Internet Program for Low-Income Consumers
Low-income families are able to purchase reduced internet access thanks to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to modernize its Lifeline program. Previously, the thirty-year-old Lifeline provided a discount on monthly telephone service to eligible low-income households, but it did not support internet access.
With the changes to the program, qualifying low-income consumers can use the low cost program that they receive through the Lifeline program for stand-alone mobile or fixed broadband service, as well as bundled voice and data service packages.
The new Lifeline program will establish minimum broadband service standards that are consistent with the FCC’s definition of high-speed internet. In many rural communities, cost is not the only barrier to reliable broadband access. Slow connection speeds and limited options for broadband providers are also a concern. The changes the FCC adopted are intended to improve the quality of service and encourage more providers to serve low-income and rural areas. The changes will also make it easier for broadband providers to participate in the program and create an independent third party to verify eligibility.
